- Contract Bargaining, Enforcement, & Organizing:
The majority of every dollar goes toward negotiating and enforcing contracts, and the organizing and education necessary to prepare for bargaining. These costs primarily consist of the professional and administrative staff of the local and the professional legal fees for arbitrations, trials, etc.
- Legal Costs:
Professional legal fees for arbitrations, trials, and other legal activities in support of contract enforcement, negotiations, and various organizing actions.
- The Newspaper Guild-Communications Workers of America (TNG-CWA):
Our national union supports us with legal help, research on health and safety issues, health care, pension/retirement, discrimination, and other relevant issues. It also maintains defense funds and resources for contract campaigns.
- Office Space Costs:
The local’s offices are located next door to The Washington Post. These costs include not only rent, but all the necessities such as phones, computers, copiers, printers, etc.
- Other Costs:
There are various miscellaneous costs such as regular member communications, Front Page Awards competitions, and affiliations with various labor organizations such as the Metro Washington Labor Council that provide support and other assistance.
