GUILD, Post Agree on Salary Classification

Today, a Guild committee consisting of Video Journalist Whitney Shefte, Reporter Fred Kunkle, and Guild Rep Rick Ehrmann met with Post Vice President for Labor Jay Kennedy and Deputy Managing Editor Shirley Carswell concerning The Post’s notice to the Guild of the integration of non-managerial WPNI Reporters, Bloggers and Videographers.

In contrast to the dispute over the placement of the Producer salary classification, the Guild and The Post agreed to place the Reporter, Blogger and Videographer positions within the current Guild/Post Contract salary classification for Editorial Writers, Reporters, Photographers, News Artists, Columnists and Critics.

The Guild also presented a short list of WPNI Video Journalists whose names were not included in the integration notice to the Guild. Management agreed to check on this discrepancy and notified the Guild shortly after the meeting of the inclusion of the missing Video Journalists.
